Speech II
The purpose of special occasion speeches is measured first on audience expectation. Special occasion speeches can be inspiring, can provide a sense of welcome or thanks, roast individuals, pay tribute, praise and celebrate.
For your second speech I would like you to perform a special occasion speech. You will select one of the following types of special occasion speeches:
Tribute Addresses
Introductions Featured Speakers
Speeches of Presentation
Speeches of Acceptance
Commencement Addresses
After-Dinner Speeches
This excludes: Intimate or personal interactions. I do not want to know anything too personal. The assignment is to deliver a speech not to invade personal lives romantically or anatomically.
If you have a question of whether or not your topic is clear to present please contact me beforehand via email (state stroy edu) or ask me after class.
This speech will be worth 75 points.
The grading rubric is available.
Time Requirement for this speech will be a minimum of 2 minutes, and maximum of 4 minutes.
I will deduct points for the following:
1. Speech not meeting overall requirements
2. Speech not meeting time requirements
3. Speaker not dressed appropriately
4. Speaker was absent the day of his or her speech (without legitimate excuse, which is
doctor’s excuse or University excuse) 5. Speaker was absent during other classmates speeches (attendance is mandatory unless legitimate excuse, which is doctor’s excuse or University excuse)
