Pick a song of your choosing that has meaningful lyrics. Analyze and describe 

both the song’s lyrics and its musical elements. Include in your writing any ways that 

you feel the music helps reinforce or reflect the meaning of the lyrics.  

Your submission should be at least 400 words (not including the lyrics).

Format:

Lyrics: Include text of the song lyrics.

Introduction Paragraph: Identify the song title, performing artist, and a link to the performance used in

your analysis.Write a statement explaining why you chose this particular song.

Lyric Analysis Paragraph: Write a paragraph analyzing the lyrics identifying 3 or more of the following:

Perspective, Language, Meaning, Context, and Form.

Musical Analysis Paragraph: Write another paragraph analyzing 4 or more elements of music:

Timbres, Tempo, Dynamics, Melody, Harmony, Rhythm, Texture, and Form.

Conclusion Paragraph: Write a conclusion paragraph describing your thoughts on how the music does or

does not reinforce or reflect the meaning of the lyrics. Give examples from the song.

Length and Completion = 10 points
